Volunteers and Peer Mentors
Become a volunteer or peer mentor
Volunteering is a fantastic way to gain experience & support your local community, our volunteers & peer mentors have a diverse range of skills and support us to provide vital services for victims and their families. In return we offer comprehensive training, support and guidance. If you have a few hours spare each week or would like to help us occasionally to fundraise then we would love to hear from you.
We currently have charity shop and fundraising volunteer positions available.
Our brand new charity shop is on Whalley Old road in Blackburn, if you'd like to get involved in this exciting new venture please email Lyndsey at shop@thewishcentre.org with your availability. Current opening times vary between 8.30am-6.30pm Monday-Thursday.
If you're interested in helping us to fundraise by taking part in a diverse array of activities like visiting local stores, hosting tombola's or taking part in events then please email fundraising@thewishcentre.org.
Student Counsellors
We welcome difference and diversity within our student counsellors from your counselling modality, age, gender, language and ethnicity. All student counsellors will be asked to attend a full day induction course before starting work with clients. This induction is held quarterly with an intake of approximately 2-4 students each quarter. In addition, you will be asked to complete various online training modules, provide your DBS details, insurance, fitness to practice and supervisor information. Typically, you will work with up to 4 clients a week, usually face-to-face in Blackburn or online.
If you are a student counsellor seeking a placement, please email andrea.guthrie@thewishcentre.orgor click on the link below to complete your application.
