Wear Purple for International Women's Day 2025
Back to news1 in 4 women experience domestic abuse in their lifetime in the UK. Shocking right?
Show your support and join us this International Women's Day by wearing purple and pledge to Listen, Support and Empower the women around you. It could be an item of purple clothing, accessories or a simple ribbon - the colour symbolises support for victims and survivors of domestic abuse.
One of our mottos here at The Wish Centre is 'We Listen, We Support, We Empower' as that is what we aim to do with everyone that reaches out for support from our service. But these three things are something EVERYONE can do to champion the women around us, so when sharing pictures of you in purple, use the hashtag #ListenSupportEmpower!

For companies/employers:
Organise a 'wear purple day' for staff on Friday the 7th March, please see below for a downloadable poster. You may wish to encourage staff to give a small donation in aid of The Wish Centre and match employee donations.

International Women's Day is for celebrating and uplifting women and to advocate for gender equality.
It will take everyone working together to tackle the epidemic of domestic abuse and gender inequality, we can all start somewhere:
- Call out misogyny when we see/hear it (if you feel safe to do so)
- Believe women's experiences and don't victim blame
- Lifting up and empowering women
- Let people know you're a safe, supportive person to talk to
- Support and raise awareness of women's charities, causes or businesses
- Boycott business or products made by companies with misogynistic or sexist attitudes
